if you're asked for a password it will be root and the password will be opnsense you're essentially live running opnsense at this point.
its not booting from its own internal storage. Now that your sg-2220 is booted, it is running based on that USB stick you inserted.
Your opnsense nano image should continue booting regularly and not hang anymore. Set hint.uart.0.flags=0x0 set hint.uart.1.flags=0x10 set comconsole_speed=115200 set comconsole_port=0x2F8 set console=comconsole set _delay=10000 boot You will be greeted with a loader prompt and you'll have to type these values in very carefully pressing enter after each line: if you miss it and the sg-2220 appears hung/hang, you'll have to remove power and re-apply power to reboot the box. PRESS ESC as soon as you see this flash of the opnsense installer boot selector screen. You will have to watch carefully for the flash of the opnsense installer boot selector image. Plug in the nano image USB to the usb port on the sg-2220, and apply power and console in to watch it boot Make sure you're able to view the sg-2220 bootup process while using putty, screen, hypterterm, or some other console. Setup a console (usb) cable into the console port of the SG-2220 and follow this documentation for help i decided to post this little writeup because i spent about a day trying to get it right and happy to report i got it working well! there are some hints in opnsense forums, but i had to piece together some posts to get a successful install of opnsense on the embedded 4g storage on sg-2220. latest ramblings have finally convinced me to try opnsense on the hardware i have which is sg-2220.
longtime supporter of open source in general and admittedly over 10 years with pfsense. Not really viable for a ISP 1GB service link to the WAN, BUT perfectly viable for isp speeds below 400MBbpsĪnother pfsense install switching to OPNsense and this time with hardware from netgate. Tested with iperf3 getting about 325-350Mbps on the WAN interface in a closed loop 1gig lan/lab. Edit: added source for boot troubleshooting below.
